The Green is now closed until March 2026
The cup was presented by Col. W.W. Dobson, Chairman of Parkers Brewery, who owned the green when it first opened. It was first presented by R.J. Burston, who kept the Bridge Inn Public House at the bottom of Heathcote Street, Kidsgrove.
The tournament takes place on a Sunday and concludes on the club finals night in September. From 2022 it has taken the form of an innovative exhibition tournament, the theme for which is voted on my members at the club AGM. In 2025 the Dobson Cup will be a turnover competition where all bowls will be played with the opposite bias to how the jack was delivered.
The Dobson Cup was first won in 1906 by Ed Millinton. The tournament was held for 98 consecutive years, before a hiatus, then returned in 2022. The record number of wins is 7 by Glenn Walker. The longest winning streak was by M. Harvey for three consecutive years from 1973.
The 2025 Dobson Cup was won by Alan Cottrell. The competition was played as a turnover game, the lead sent the block and chose the order, every bowl sent with bias opposite the jack.
Alan beat Peter Brooks in the final. A master tactician of the turnover advantage with great determination.

Presented to Clough Hall Bowling Club by Mr Kerrisley, President of the League, who had won the trophy 4 times when it was the Staffordshire and Cheshire Border League Challenge Cup. It is played for in a season-ending handicap doubles competition.
The tournament takes place on a Sunday and concludes on the club finals night in September. From 2023, the doubles partners are drawn from the entrants split into two pots based upon their club handicaps.
The Dobson Cup was first won in 1947 by A. Cooke. The record number of wins is 4 by P. Smithson. Several members have retained this trophy over the years including Michael Cross, Eric Young, and H. W. Brooks.
The 2025 Kerrisley Cup was won by Matthew Bell and Steve Ellis. Affectionately known as 'The Captains' and for their dominance one sunny Sunday morning in September; incorporating secret whispers plotting to make the most of their combined talents.
Matt and Steve beat Alan Cottrell and Geoff Palin (debut season) in the final.

Mrs H. Holt donated the trophy to the club as a memorial to her son Marshall. Her other son Jeff making the trophy presentation at hte club's official annual diner. The club currently uses the trophy as a handicap competition prize. It is bowled for 'off scratch'.
The scratch knockout tournament takes place as the opener to the season on a Wednesday, and concludes with a finals night in June. The entrants qualify by being the averages winner from each of the club's league teams from the prior season.
The Holt Trophy was first won in 1983 by Glenn Walker. Both Glenn Walker and Eric Young hold the record number of wins with 4. Eric's 4 wins came in a 5-year period from 1985.
The 2025 Holt Trophy was won by Darren Kerr. Darren qualified as the average winner of both the Sandbach A Team and the Thursday Parks A Team. He defeated Andrew Dimelow in the final, who qualified for the Holt Trophy via winning the averages in the Thursday Parks B team.

Originally, the Clough Hall Bowling Club Management Committee authorised the purchase of the shield for the Potteries Floodlight 2nd Team average prize winner.
In 2022, the Handicap Shield Tournament was reinvented as a members' league to encourage competition against similar ability players but also with the potential to climb the ranks and difficulty of opponent. In 2024, this became hosted on 5 'Floodlight Fridays' across the early and late parts of the season to also improve skills and accuracy under floodlights.
The Clough Hall Shield was first won in 1997 by C. Evans. It was only held 7 times, before a hiatus, then returned in 2022.
The 2025 Clough Hall Shield was won by Kevin Moran. He was an ever-present at the 5 Friday fixtures season and calmly and with full club spirit used his focus and determination to stay unbeaten to take the trophy. Alan Cottrell and Matthew Bell were close runners-up in the league but amongst the fallen leaves and strewn acorns it was Kev who nestled closest to the jack!

The cup was presented to Clough Hall Bowling Club by the President Mr A. Brewood and Mrs Brewood in 1960. The club currently uses the cup as a handicap competition winners prize.
From 2022, the Knockout Cup has been played on the opening Sunday ofthe season with the final kept for the Finals Night in June. The early season test often sees some giant killing in the first and second rounds.
The Brewood Challenge Cup was first won in 1960 by W. M. Sandham. The record number of wins is 7 by Wilmot Sandywell whose trophies came between 1961 and 1997. The longest winning streak was by J. B. Allcock for three consecutive years from 1999.
The 2025 Brewood Challenge Cup was won by Glenn Walker. He defeated Matthew Bell in the final.
